Webinar: How to Choose the Right Automated Liquid Handler
Westbrook, ME -- Increasing testing throughput often means bringing new or additional robots into the laboratory. There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing an automated liquid handler (ALH). It can be a daunting process for scientists who are new to automation. Artel recently hosted a webinar (now available on demand) that discussed the considerations that go into choosing an ALH to help laboratorians select the system that best serves their needs.
Some topics that were covered are:
- Important considerations leading to the choice of an ALH
- The difference between manufacturing specifications and your lab’s requirements
- Why it is critical to measure ALH performance within the context of your assay
The webinar also briefly discussed how to verify your ALH’s performance after it arrives, which takes into account your assay volumes, reagents, and labware options.
Dr. Nathaniel Hentz is currently Director, Scientific Market Development at Artel. Prior to that, Dr. Hentz served as Assistant Director of the BTEC Analytical Lab at North Carolina State University for almost 11 years. In that role, he taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses as well as industry short courses focused on biopharmaceutical assay development and validation. Dr. Hentz’s tenure in the HTS industry includes nearly two years supporting the automated screening systems within the Lead Discovery group at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Connecticut and seven years developing screens at Eli Lilly RTP Laboratories in North Carolina.
