WWTP Lamb Weston/Meijer started up

In 2015 Colsen was commissioned by Lamb Weston/Meijer vof te realize phase 2 of the revamp of the existing old fashioned waste water treatment plant into a sustainable WWTP at the production location Oosterbierum (Friesland, NL). In phase 1 a new anaerobic reactor was constructed while the aerobic purification reactor was modified into a NAS® system with anammox bacteria. In phase 2 a 2nd anaerobic reactor and an ANPHOS® struvite reactor were constructed. The ANPHOS® installation reclaims phosphates from the waste water in a sustainable fashion, whereby an artificial fertilizer is produced.
In order to be able to use the biogas produced by the anaerobic reactors a BIDOX® (biological desulphurization installation is realized for the purification if the biogas prior to use in the boiler of LWM. Once the revamp is finished the operational costs for the water purification at Lamb Weston / Meijer will be significantly reduced. The new installation was started up in April 2016 and will be fully operational by mid-June 2016.
