Flare Operations Changes Come From Study Findings
EPA announced that it had reached a settlement agreement with Marathon Petroleum Company (Marathon) regarding allegations of Clean Air Act violations at Marathon’s Texas City and Detroit refineries. EPA developed the evidence by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) showing that several of Marathon’s flares were not controlling VOC emissions sufficiently, resulting in excess emissions that had gone unreported. Monitoring the receipt of international climate finance by developing countries
The 2010 Cancun Agreements and 2011 Durban Outcome call for developing countries to register, monitor, and report on support received, and for developed countries to improve their reporting by using more complete climate finance reporting guidelines.
