2010 predictions
Our thoughts are below on what may be headed our way in 2010 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency`s (EPA) Office of Prevention, Pesticides, and Toxic Substances (OPPTS). In short, the momentum and positions that the Obama Administration took in 2009 are likely to become greater and more solidified in 2010 as a number of key issues are addressed. Washington: hazard standards
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) proposed on Sept. 30, 2009, to align the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) with provisions of the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). The HCS requires chemical manufacturers and importers to evaluate chemical hazards and provide information to subsequent users.
