Power Plant Improves Operating Efficiency with Culligan Matrix Solutions
Challenge A large chemical manufacture was challenged with boiler tube failures in its power plant, resulting in costly repairs and down time. The boiler tube failures were a result of the incoming water quality to the power plant. Until recently, the boiler make-up water was treated with a combination of carbon media filtration and softening. As a result less than 50% of condensate was returned and the power boiler ran at 7 feed water cycles. A local Culligan dealer was asked to review the facility`s ...

Electronic water treatment reduces fouling in heat exchangers
The deposition of material on heat transfer surfaces is called fouling which significantly impacts on the thermal and mechanical performance of heat exchangers. Fouling increases the overall thermal resistance and lowers the overall heat transfer coefficient of heat exchangers as well as impeding fluid flow, accelerating corrosion and increasing pressure drop across the heat exchanger. The cleaning of fouled heat exchangers presents a significant challenge to maintenance and operation ...
