The authors give an overview of gas-insulated equipment and their problems and uncertainties when switching to new, Alternative Gas mixtures. Furthermore, they explain the handling and the current technical status of the implementation of gas handling with "Alternative Gases" and give an up-to-date overview of alternative gas mixtures and reasons for the changeover. In particular, the mixing and availability of the gas mixtures, handling, measuring and processing, including regulatory requirements, will be discussed.
