Traditionally, geologists use pencil and paper when logging soil descriptions, drilling tests, and well diagrams in the field.  We wanted to see if we could speed up this process using a field computer.  We tested a fully ruggedized Yuma2 tablet computer (retail value of $3500) and a consumer grade Dell Venue 8 (retail value $250).
