Mexico making waves in PV in Latin America
The 30MW Martifer Solar Aura PV plant will be completed in August, making Mexico a potential rival to Chile’s dominance of the PV market in Latin America. The Aura plant, being developed by Martifer solar and Gauss Energía, will be providing power to Mexico’s national utility, the Comisión Federal de electricidad (CFE), and will use Suntech modules. Greater community say on wind turbines and solar farms
Communities now have a greater say on the siting of wind turbines and solar farms in new guidance. The guidance makes clear the importance of environmental protections in deciding applications, Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles said today (29 July 2013). The planning guidance confirms that the need for renewable energy does not automatically override local environmental and heritage protections and the concerns of local communities.
