European Commission vows to lead biowaste crackdown
The European Commission last week called for existing legislation and targets governing the management of biodegradable waste to be "rigorously enforced", with the release of a new report arguing that existing policies have the potential to slash greenhouse gas emissions from landfill and drive rapid adoption of waste-to-energy technologies.  A number of trade associations, including the Association for Organics Recycling, had been calling for the creation of a dedicated Biowaste Directive to encourage better management of biodegradable waste streams.  But the report, entitled Communication ...

The Conference Board of Canada predicts that investments in technology to prevent and adapt to climate change will have major economic benefits.
