EPA grants E15 waiver for newer vehicles
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has waived a limitation on selling fuel that is more than 10 percent ethanol for model year 2007 and newer cars and light trucks.
This clears the way for gasoline that is blended with up to 50 percent more ethanol to be used in vehicles made since the 2007, which will give a boost to U.S. corn farmers used to make ethanol and ethanol producers concerned about a supply glut.
The waiver applies to fuel that contains up to 15 percent ethanol - known as E15 - and only to model year 2007 and newer cars and light trucks.
