Offshore wind leaders join forces to cut cost of energy
Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has signed an agreement with five leading engineering companies in a bid to cut the high cost of building offshore wind farms and boost the sector`s emerging supply chain. SSE today announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Siemens` wind turbine and grid connection companies, Burntisland Fabrications, Atkins, and subsea construction company Subsea 7, as part of a project designed to substantially reduce the cost of delivering power from its offshore wind farms. EPA Recognizes the Benefits of Biomass Energy
Grants NAFO`s petition to reconsider; outlines rulemaking and scientific inquiry. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today granted the National Alliance of Forest Owners` (NAFO) petition to reconsider the treatment of biomass carbon emissions under the Prevention of Significant Deterioration and Title V Greenhouse Gas Tailoring Rule (Tailoring Rule). In doing so, the EPA announced that it will defer permit requirements for biomass energy production for a period of at least three years pending future consideration of the science and subsequent rulemaking.
