Tsunami Multi-Channel Warning System Enters Field Testing
eVigilo will integrate its Alert and Distribution Center (IADC) with the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS). IADC will receive Tsunami notifications from GDACS or from National authorities (e.g. Civil Protection) and will send automatically geo-targeted Internet and mobile alert messages across multiple channels such as : Push IP over fix and mobile networks, cell broadcast as well as TV, radio, sirens, billboards and pagers. Amazon Defense Coalition: Chevron Refusing to Contest Ecuador Appellate Court Decision Upholding $18 Billion In Damages
In a stark departure from its normal litigation practices, Chevron has refused to request that the Ecuador appellate court that recently affirmed the $18 billion judgment against the oil major reconsider or clarify its decision. Chevron last week let a deadline pass that allowed either party to contest or clarify the decision, which was issued on January 3. The appellate court on Friday reaffirmed its original decision in response to ten separate clarification requests submitted by lawyers for the rainforest communities.
