US proposal for cadmium ban from toys
A US congresswoman has proposed a bill restricting the use of cadmium in children`s products. Congresswoman Jackie Speier has introduced legislation to prohibit the use of cadmium in jewellery marketed to children. HR 4428, The Children’s Toxic Metals Act, is aimed at banning the use of cadmium and certain other heavy metals in children’s jewelry sold in the United States. EPA warns of cancer danger from radon in homes and schools
January is National Radon Action Month, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is touting three initiatives to raise awareness about the risks of radon.  Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas that can exist at dangerous levels in homes, schools and other buildings.  An estimated 20,000 people die every year in the U.S. from radon-related lung cancer.
