Phase-out of hazardous chemicals from Mediterranean
Mediterranean countries adopted new measures and mandatory timelines to limit the impact of dangerous chemicals and pesticides originating from industrial and agricultural activities on the marine environment in the region. Mandatory measures to phase out hazardous chemicals entered into force, Wednesday, under the Barcelona Convention and the Mediterranean Action Plan. Targeted chemicals include those found in waste water, a series of persistent organic pollutants used as pesticides as well as DDT and its stockpiles.

NAHB Applauds EPA’S Decision to Delay Lead Paint Certification Enforcement
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) decision to delay enforcement of the new Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting rule will provide much-needed time to get more remodelers and other contractors trained – and for EPA to get the word out to consumers about the importance of hiring a certified remodeler, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
“EPA listened to our concerns and did the right thing,” said NAHB Chairman Bob Jones, a builder and developer in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
