National research council lauds U.S. national gas hydrate R&D effort
In a Congressionally mandated report released January 29, 2010, the National Research Council (NRC) concluded that the U.S. Department of Energy’s methane hydrate program had been “consistent and effective” in leading a broad-based science and technology development program to investigate naturally occurring gas hydrates. U.S. Department of Enery Secretary Steven Chu announced today that Dr. Karina Edmonds will join the Department of Energy as its new Technology Transfer Coordinator. Dr. Edmonds will be responsible for working with the Department`s National Laboratories to accelerate the process of moving discoveries from the laboratory to the private sector, ensuring that America’s scientific leadership translates into new, high-paying jobs for America’s families.
