AlertMe debuts national energy monitoring service
UK smart meter specialist AlertMe has launched a new online service designed to help its customers compare their energy use against that of other households. Can more toxicity tests improve environmental protection standards?
New research has investigated the effect of increasing the number of toxicity tests on Environmental Quality Standards (EQSs). Case study results suggest that an additional test can reduce costs without impairing the regulatory protection levels. An Environmental Quality Standard (EQS) defines the maximum safe concentration of a potentially hazardous chemical in air or water. EQSs are used to control emissions or assess risks and are developed using a number of tests which measure harm to wildlife.
