EPA begins three Navajo uranium mine cleanups in September
This month, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is beginning three uranium mine clean up actions on the Navajo Nation. The work, expected to cost $7.15 million, is part of the EPA’s five year plan to address uranium contamination on the Navajo Nation and is being done in partnership with the Navajo Nation’s Environmental Protection Agency. Funding for all three actions is from responsible parties, rather than the Superfund trust fund. EPA Region 6 Updates Its National Priorities List of Superfund Sites - Two sites added in Texas
The Environmental Protection Agency announced today, with support from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, that two sites in Texas have been added to the National Priorities List (NPL) of Superfund sites. Added to the NPL are the US Oil Recovery site in Pasadena and the Circle Court Ground Water Plume in Willow Park. The US Oil Recovery site is an inactive used oil processor and wastewater treatment facility on two separate parcels located in Pasadena, Harris County, Texas.
