McEllhiney Lecturer says proper water well development critical to well performance
NEW ORLEANS — The process of “well development” is critical to optimizing well performance, yet too often it is not given proper priority in the overall well construction, said the 2010 NGWREF McEllhiney Distinguished Lecturer Mike H. Mehmert in his inaugural lecture at the 2009 NGWA Ground Water Expo and Annual Meeting.
Well development is the procedure used to facilitate the removal of fine solids and materials from the water-bearing zone of a water well to optimize production.
“This is probably one of the most important aspects of completing a well, but sometimes there’s relatively ... |

Northern peat soils: potential as a carbon sink
Upland peat soils provide a substantial carbon sink if managed properly, according to new research. A study of a peatland area in the UK indicated that it could potentially store approximately 160,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
It has been estimated that 20 to 30 per cent of carbon stored in the soil is held in northern peatlands. There are two main drivers that convert this from a net sink to a net source of carbon: a warming climate and land management practices, such as drainage, peat extraction, planting trees, conversion to arable land, burning and grazing.
The researchers investigated ... |

CL Solutions, LLC
CL Solutions provides products for bioaugmentation to destroy organic contamiants in soil and ground water. Our main products are Cl-Out for the aerobic cometabolism of chlorinated solvents and Petrox for the direct metabolism of petroleum hydrocarbons. The benefit of bioaugmentation using our products is that project risk is reduced by eliminating the guesswork associated with bioremediation. Removing the project risk also improves the speed and cost effectivness of remediation.
