Work begins on new flood defence schemes
39 new flood and coastal defence projects have been announced as part of Government plans to reduce the risk of flooding and coastal erosion in England. Of these new projects 21 will provide additional protection to over 13,000 households at risk of flooding. The remainder mainly relate to vital repairs and safety enhancements to existing defences. FlowWorks to manage sanitary sewer flow monitoring data
Gwinnett County, USA, has selected FlowWorks to manage all sanitary sewer flow and rainfall monitoring data for the Department of Water Resources on annual contract. The selection was made, in part, because of FlowWorks` ability to accept data directly from Teledyne ISCO and ADS flow meters. Gwinnett County has an area of 436 square miles and a population of nearly 700,000. The county has long had a sanitary sewer monitoring programme encompassing nearly 70 sanitary stations, 30 rain gages and over 260 historical sites.
