- Model Nano - Flotation System

Pretreatment: The sewage, cooling, process, ground or river water polluted with light liquids or emulsions is preferably pre-purified through the simultaneous separator AWAS Galaxie Tower. This pre-cleaning system separates sludge, light materials or light liquids simultaneously in an efficient way from the water. They are deflected into the respective containers and storage tanks. The water which is cleaned from floatable and suspended solids flows to a storage basin.

Within the framework of the EU-research program CEGRIS special fittings for a full stream separator were developed. The atmosphere of compressed gas leads to full diffusion of the required gas volume for the flotation process in the water. The compressed air cushion is controlled automatically by a sensor, so the required pressurized air and water volume adjusts themselves.

The medium to be treated gets fully saturated with atmospheric oxygen or another gas with an amount of about 4% of the water volume. Because of the full saturation the gas passes into the nanoscale of water molecular structures. More than 40 mg / l oxygen saturated water flow bubble-free at the bottom of the relaxation system and afterwards to the flotation.

This new AWAS lighting technology from “biowaterworld”s development sector is installed centrally in the saturator. It causes a water purification of different even dissolved matters in a way that they even separate from the molecular structures of the water.

In several tests in the Institute of Biophysics in Neuss, Prof. Fritz Albert Popp was able to prove with his innovative electroluminescence method that this AWAS lighting technology leads to a significant reduction of most dissolved matters – up to bacteria, viruses and fungi.

In a new AWAS decompression system – located directly before the flotation – the throughput speed is increased. This controllable decompression optimized by AWAS releases the air, previously dissolved in water, in the form of micro-bubbles in the range of only 10-30 µm and carries away all loosened particles so they can be conveyed and floated by the micro-bubbles.

Temporary emulsions are broken by this relaxation process whereat oil droplets are formed which are transported to the surface by the bubbles. The substances, bacteria etc. which have been released by the lighting technology are floated and removed in the flotation.

This LDS full stream flotation often differs from conventional systems because the dirt and substances are not floated by the bubbles but they conjoin with air and build a foam cushion at the surface.

Special consumables that are installed behind the decompression system may cause cavitation in the effluent stream. By controlled imploding of additional dissolved ingredients, in particular dissolved hydrocarbons and other etheric substances the cleaning process of wastewater in the chemical industry is supported cost-efficiently.

AWAS Nano FlotationType of wastewater: heavily loaded process waterLevel of cleaning: industrial water recycling or discharge into natural reservoirs. Nominal sizes: up to 500,000 l / h per unit.

Cleaning performance of the chemistry free Nano Flotation

  • In 2007/2008 AWAS proved in an EU-funded project that - without adding chemicals - even germs and bacteria in the cooling water circuit emulsions were reduced to 99.999%.
  • Also settleable substances and suspended particles were reduced by 96%. The COD value was reduced by more than 65%.
  • By combining Galaxie Tower and chemical free Nano Flotation, AWAS achieved a particle reduction of about 99%, a hydrocarbon reduction of more than 97.5% and a COD reduction of about 88%.
  • In 2009, this new full stream Nano-Flotation technique was tested in a 3 month field test to clarify feces, for the first time without any biology. Hereby the BOD was reduced by more than 90% and the COD by more than 80%.
  • Therefore, this new AWAS Nano flotation technology has recently been used as a sewage treatment plant on ships. To our licensee, the Hamann AG, the IMO certificate has been issued.
  • Since 2002 more than 300 chemical-free AWAS Biolife light-water flotation plants were produced and used for car washing water-circulation systems.
