The bioFLOW MF System is a pressure driven backpulsed microfiltration process, which physically separates solutions and dispersions into concentrates and permeates. The wastewater is separated as it circulates across the tubular membrane at a high velocity. Permeate is forced through the pores of the membrane, while suspended particulate remains in the return stream.

Cross‐flow filtration creates high turbulence on the membrane surface and prevents the accumulation of particles on the inner surfaces of the membrane. The MF permeate is back‐pulsed on a timed cycle basis for a reverse flow pattern through the membrane pore. This method is able to dislodge particles, sustain a high flux and prolong membrane life.
