A unique patented design that features multigrade filtration to remove suspended solid contaminants. For use in water & waste water treatment. The VOLCANO SAND FILTER is a continuously, backwashing filter which eliminates the need to shut down for back wash like conventional sand filters. Feed water containing contaminants flows downward through the coarse, intermediate, and fine sand media. The contaminants are captured. The purified water leaves the filter as filtrate. The air lift continuously transports the sand with contaminants to the wash box. In the wash box, the contaminants separate from the sand and are removed in the reject stream. The cleaned sand falls back to the sand bed and classifies into coarse, intermediate and fine media layers. The process is continuous.
