Fiberglass tanks are the backbone of a Santec designed water reclamation facility. Underground fiberglass tanks offer many advantages over a traditional above ground steel and concrete waste water treatment plant. Fiberglass tanks installed underground do not require weatherproofing, painting or cleaning. They are rust proof and water tight.
The fiberglass tanks we use can be made to whatever size is required for the job. Fiberglass tanks are custom made for each project and plant configuration. The service life of fiberglass tanks is another attractive feature. We have plants built in the 1980s that are still in service with no degradation of the tanks fiberglass material. UV rays are a known issue with fiberglass material. The only portions of the tanks that are exposed to UV are the manways which are gel coated and can easily be replaced (usually for cosmetic reasons).
Fiberglass tanks are easy to install and remove. The empty tanks are lightweight and can be transported and installed in hard to reach areas. Tanks are placed in the trench using a crane. Once in position, each tank is secured and backfilled with pea gravel. If a plant is to be decommissioned, the tanks can be raised and transported by truck to another site for re-installation and reuse.
