- Drinking Water Network Systems

Determining the necessity to flush a drinking water network systems. Both particles contained in drinking water and corrosion on unprotected metal pipes cause sediments. One essential measure to assure a specified drinking water quality level is to remove such sediments whenever the pipe condition requires such maintenance (flushing intervals subject to the pace of sediment creation). The sediment creation processes in drinking water network systems have been comprehensively identified by the TZW.

In order to be able to calculate condition-based flushing intervals, it is essential to obtain flushing-related measurement data from the particular drinking water network system. Within the framework of the “FlushInspect” BMBF research project, F.A.S.T. GmbH and the TZW are developing a system to obtain such data allowing the determination of the point of time when a pipe network actually requires flushing. This system will then be offered to the market.
