FTS - Model Ubicom - 2-Way Communications for Remote Monitoring Stations
Ubicom helps you control the cost of managing your network of remote monitoring stations. For customers who require extreme reliability of data access from extremely remote environmental monitoring stations, Ubicom is bidirectional communications, and ensures critical information is available anywhere, anytime. Unlike other remote communication products, Ubicom provides detailed insight into the health of the station and the connection, a complete toolset to diagnose any conditions which inhibit data access, and ultimate control over remote hardware which minimizes the need to visit the site.
- 2-way satellite and/or cellular in a single device
- Low power and customizable duty cycle
- Remote station management including power cycling of up to 4 devices
- Completely provisioned, ready-to-go out of the box
- Data pooling across your network
- No monthly bill
- Reliability with dual telemetry in a single device
Unique all-in-one design. Simple installation. Reliable operation.
The Ubicom transceiver integrates all electronics, antennas and antenna cables into a single device, for simplicity of installation and reliability.
Redundancy for reliability
Ubicom maximizes the reliabilty of your data. Use it as a backup (or replacement) for GOES / Meteosat, cellular, or any other telemetry method you are currently using. It’s designed to work with multiple satellite service providers and cellular networks.
Transmit any size data, even over satellite
Ubicom uses “Short Burst Data” (SBD) satellite service, which can send a maximum of 340 bytes at a time. This makes communication reliable and efficient, and keeps costs low. Ubicom adds a proprietary “packetizing protocol” which allows much larger data to be transmitted by breaking it into smaller packets, then re-assembling the packets once they’ve been received on the other end.
Configurable duty cycle
“Duty cycle” refers to how often the Ubicom transceiver becomes active and ready to send or receive data. With a high duty cycle, more power is consumed, but it is more frequently available to transmit or receive data. On the flip side, a low duty cycle consumes less power, but pending transmissions must more frequently wait until the transceiver becomes active again.
The Ubicom transceiver is remotely configurable so you can select the appropriate balance for your application.
Remote station management eliminates non-scheduled trips to remote stations to rectify most problems. Keep your station running and your data flowing.
Diagnose problems remotely
Download a remote log file. Issue an SDI command. Try a reboot (it’s still the most common way to resolve most problems with dataloggers).
Fix issues without a site visit
Whether reconfiguring the datalogger programming, purging a bubbler or restarting the datalogger or SDI sensor, you have the tools to avoid costly site visits.
All data consumed/allocated is pooled for your entire network, and across the entire term of your package.
