Geogrids for Soils

A geogrid is geosynthetic material used to reinforce soils and granular materials in areas where poor ground conditions exist. They are also used to stabilise existing steep slopes and embankments which may be unstable . Geogrids are commonly used in road constructions and also in embankment construction in landfills. Other possible applications for geogrids include foundation construction for wind turbines, retaining structures and construction of sub-bases. The use of a geogrid layer allows the loads encountered to be spread over a larger area and hence spread the ground bearing pressure evenly.  Geogrids designed for use in embankment construction allow the excavation and construction of stable embankments without the requirements for excessive excavation.

  • Very high strength at low strains
  • Immediate interlocking effect
  • Low creep characteristics (PET)
  • High angles of friction because of the structured geogrid surfaces
  • High resistance against installation damage
  • Made from uniformly extruded solid
  • Can be manufactured with PET or PP bars
  • High resistance against biological and chemical attack
  • Biaxial geogrid strengths up to 80 kN/m
  • Uniaxial geogrid strengths up to 400 kN/m
  • Quick and easy to install
