In industrial applications, screening is essential as the first stage of treatment to remove bulk solids that would otherwise increase the solids and organic load on downstream plant. Hydroflux Industrial can supply many different forms of screenings systems using various types of media and aperture size with each screen being selected based on the application, the solids load, type of solids and the hydraulic profile.

The development, selection and supply of screens is maintained in-house utilising one of a range of products from Hydroflux HUBER or Hydroflux Technology. In industrial applications above ground rotary type screens are the most commonly utilised however below ground rotary in-channel screens are often a cost effective option if the hydraulic profile permits. Hydroflux Industrial can also offer screenings compaction and dewatering systems to reduce the volume of waste to be disposed of.

The HUBER Rotary Drum Screen RoMesh® consists of a horizontal screen basket equipped with a fine square mesh (0.2 to 1 mm mesh size) or a perforated plate (2 to 3 mm perforation). Due to the two-dimensional effect of the mesh or perforated plate the screen removes very fine particulate material.

The wastewater flows from inside to outside the basket through the rotating screen surface. Filtrate (screened effluent) is discharged vertically from the bottom of the drum and the screenings are transported horizontally by the rotation of the screen and discharged into a screenings bin for disposal.

A spray bar with alternately operating spray nozzles cleans the screen surface while the drum rotates. Optional hot water or high pressure sprays can be supplied for high grease and fat load applications.
