Kurita - Dropwise Technology
From Paper Solutions Technologies
Kurita Dropwise Condensation Technology is a patent pending technology to increase operating efficiency and conserve energy in industrial production facilities. This technology can be applied without apploying any additional system equipment. The KURITA DW product is dosed continuously into the steam line in front of the target device creating a water repellent film on the surfaces. Increasing the water repellency greatly improves heat transfer efficiency. The productivity of industrial processes increases significantly. At the same time the steam consumption is reduced leading to less fuel consumption and cutting down costs for water and energy. Kurita Dropwise Condensation Technology is a sustainable technology leading to a reduction of carbon dioxide emission supporting the development of an eco-friendly society.

More about Dropwise Technology
The dryer constitutes up to 40 % of the total energy costs. Rotating cylinders are heated to remove residual moisture, and at the end, the paper only has from 2 to 9 percent of remaining water. When this operation takes place, a water film always forms due to the centrifugal forces and even a very thin water film layer acts as insulator and inhibits the heat transfer significantly. As a result, more steam is required to equilibrate temperatures, and this situation leads to higher costs, higher maintenance charges, higher steam pressure and a decreased production.
As a result of years of experience, Kurita developed our Dropwise technology, where heat transfer improves by forming a water-repellent film on surfaces.

Kurita Dropwise Technology increases productivity ...
Kurita Dropwise Technology increases productivity and boosts heat transfer efficiency in industrial systems and heat exchangers. KURITA DW covers the entire surface with a water repellent film preventing water forming an isolating layer. The result is a significant improvement of heat transfer efficiency leading to reduced steam consumption, less CO2 emission and increased productivity.
Energy Conservation Grand Prize
Kurita wins the 2019 Energy Conservation Grand Prize for Improved Heat Transfer Efficiency through Dropwise Condensation Technology.
Kurita is pleased to announce that it has been awarded by the Agency of Natural Resources and Energy in the Product and Business Model category of the 2019 Energy Conservation Grand Prize organized by The Energy Conservation Center, Japan (backed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry). The prize was awarded for the improved heat transfer efficiency through Kurita's Dropwise Condensation Technology. This marks the second time Kurita has been recognized in the Energy Conservation Grand Prize, after winning the Energy Conservation Center Chairman's Award for its DReeM Polymer Technology in 2017.
