Model PG2 - Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge

PG2 is the highest-performance tipping bucket rain gauge with 200 cm2 captation surface on the market today, it is certified in class A according to the criteria of the UNI 11452: 2012 standard. Accurate, it indicates any malfunctions before they cause interruption of measurement and it’s usable without a power supply also at low temperatures thanks to the heated raing gauge version: PG2/R. PG2 measures liquid precipitation with a resolution of 0.1 mm. The maximum error of the PG2 product class is less than 3% up to 500 mm/h in the entire measurement range. Unlike that guaranteed by the most popular sensors based on weight technology, PG2 measures with this degree of accuracy from the first minute following the phenomenon detected, thus being particularly suitable for the timely measurement of downpours.

PG2 contains diagnostics to verify the:

  • clogging of the funnel;
  • correct inclination of the sensor;
  • correct functioning of the sensing elements;
  • status of the moving parts, to warn in advance of potential breakdowns.

  • Collecting Area 200 cm2
  • Installation Mast 48 mm Ø – available support for basement of concrete
  • Accuracy Better than 3 % up to 500 mm/h in the entire measurement range
  • Resolution 0.1 mm
  • Connection with Data-logger Interface RS-485 with SDI-12 protocol
  • Certified Max Error < 3 % up to 300 mm/h
  • Measurement Range 0-500 mm/h
  • Sensor Type Tipping bucket rain gauge

Mechanical robustness is guaranteed by:

  • the attention to detail, starting with the design phase;
  • encoded, tracked and certified production processes;
  • the use of high quality materials;
  • the experience and training of production engineers.

ZBT allows the risk of sudden failure and loss of data to be minimised, by using:

  • redundant elements, which make sure that, if an element breaks, the product sends an alert while operating normally, giving time to intervene with the replacement without losing any data;
  • diagnostic sensors of various types, such as the ones for the verification of:
    • the correct inclination of the product,
    • the quality of the acquired measurement,
    • the value of the voltage input,
    • the status of inputs and outputs,
    • the conditions of the internal temperature,
    • the reliability of the RF link between all devices,
    • etc.
