nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI is recommended to be used undiluted. The amount to be applied depends on how absorbent the substrate is. In all application cases on new areas, it is recommended to carry out a small initial test area prior to the main application. nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI is a surface coating. It requires enough product applied onto the surface to penetrate into the pore structure in order to seal and protect the material. Failure to apply enough product may reduce the lifespan and performance of the coating.

The substrates to be treated should be dry and clean to ensure deep penetration of the solution. Dirt, grime, efflorescence, algae and moss must be removed. Water absorbed during cleaning must be allowed to dry so that the surface and lower areas are completely dry before the application begins. If water is present, the coating will not be allowed to penetrate and deliver the nanoparticles deep into the material. Imperfections such as cracks, cracked joints or defective seams must be repaired using appropriate methods prior to application. nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI will then protect these repaired surfaces as long as the repair material is porous.
During application, the outside temperature and the temperature of the substrate should be within the operating range of 5 °C to +30 °C.
nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI should not come into contact with water before or during application and should not be applied if there is a risk of rain during application or curing. If this occurs, then the area should be fully dried and the process repeated. Treat a small test patch for colour change risk.
nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI should be applied to the surface material until the surface looks wet, on horizontal surfaces, a pooling should occur. nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI will soak into the material within a few seconds to a minute, depending on the porosity of the material. The process should be repeated immediately after (wet on wet) to ensure enough product penetrates deep into the stone. If the first coat is allowed to soak in and starts to cure, then this may prevent the second coat from penetrating and there is a risk the surface will get darker as the nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI will collect on the top layer of the stone and be prevented from penetrating.
After final application, the surface should be allowed to cure for a period of 6 - 12 hours. However, this can be dependent on current climate and atmospheric conditions, the quantity of material used and the porosity of the treated surface. With high humidity, an extension of drying time of several hours should be allowed.
The following application methods are allowed. HVLP sprayer is recommended to ensure efficient and even coverage. Brush on, roll on, immerse in dipping tanks or use a garden sprayer system to spray the nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI onto larger surface areas.
Significantly less product is required for dense surfaces compared to rough and porous ones. Also, being denser, these materials will take longer to absorb nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI and longer to cure; up to 24 hours. For denser non-porous non-absorbent substrates like polished marble and granite penetration is almost impossible. In this case, apply the product sparingly as it reacts immediately with the surface. Polish of excess soon after to effectively protect the surface.
On vertical surfaces, nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI should be applied starting from the bottom and going up. This avoids pre-treating the substrate with run-off from above that may cure and prevent the fresh coat being absorbed. A liquid film of nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI must remain in contact with the substrate for several seconds in order to allow enough product to be absorbed. Vertical surfaces should exhibit a clear film of liquid after both coats. The application should be continuous and uninterrupted to minimise any overlapping.
Non-absorbent substrates such as glass, plastic and metal cannot be treated with nanoSystem STONE Anti-Graffiti. However, there is hardly any risk of damage to these materials. Therefore, covering of these areas is normally not necessary and overspray can be simply wiped off with a dry cloth, though it is recommended to wipe it soon after contamination to avoid crystallisation.
All equipment and containers must be clean and dry prior to application. After use, they can be cleaned with any organic solvent (white spirit, petrol or thinners).
nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI saturates the pores and capillaries of the mineral surface with minute silica-based nanoparticles.
These nanoparticles chemically bond onto the existing pore structure of the material. Closing down the pores to below 0.3mm where water cannot pass through but air molecules can. This forms an invisible, breathable, water-repellent and stay-clean protective coating. This function is vital if this product is to be used to seal and protect buildings and structures, preventing condensation from developing.
Should a treated substrate become the subject of paint based graffiti, spray the problem area with nanoSystem STONE Graffiti Cleaner. Leave to dwell for several minutes and then wash the area with water, recommended under pressure with a pressurised water jet system. If any graffiti remains then repeat the process until completely removed.
Avoid contact with skin. In case of contact with eyes, immediately wash with water. If necessary, consult a doctor.

nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI is supplied in 1L, 5L, 10L, 20L, 50L, 200L and 1000L containers.
nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI should not come in contact with moisture and should, therefore, be kept in its airtight container prior to use. Do not store in direct sunlight or expose to additional heat sources. This product should only be stored in the container it was supplied in. The material should be stored at temperatures above 5°C.
nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI has a shelf life of 18 months from the date of manufacture.
Under normal circumstances the area protected requires less maintenance and cleaning as nanoSystem STONE ANTI-GRAFFITI prevents dirt and algae/mould from adhering to the surface and taking hold in the pores of the material.
If the area does become dirty due to standing dirt or soiling, then simply wash this away from the surface using fresh water. Use of detergents and abrasive cleaning is not required and may reduce the performance of the coating and slowly break it down over time.
The performance of the coating should be checked by a qualified expert at intervals before the stated durable life expires. If performance has deteriorated, then the qualified expert will advise if a remedial re-application is necessary to extend the durability.
