Non-Selective Catalytic Reduction (NSCR)


In the catalyst industry, Non-Selective Catalytic Reduction (NSCR) is a common reference to Three-Way Catalysts. NSCR catalysts address carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) exhaust emissions via oxidation, while also converting nitrogen oxides (NOx) via reduction.

NSCR derives its name from being a contrast to Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), by which nitrogen oxides (NOx), in the presence of excesses of oxygen (O2), are “selectively” reduced by the reaction with other nitrogen-based compounds, such as ammonia or urea.
