- Odor Monitoring Systems - Network of Electronic Nses


When facing olfactory pollution, unpleasant odor monitoring is a prerequisite for efficient odor control strategy. RQ Box continuously monitors odor nuisances and pollutant gas emissions. Besides odor, RQ Box also quantifies multiple gases: ammonia, sulfurs (hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans) and VOCs. Emissions are quantified by electronic noses also named e-noses. These odor analyzers, calibrated according to the EN 13725 or ASTM E-679-91 standards, are located close to the odor source. Odor measurement results (odor concentration in odor units, odor flow rate or odor intensity) and local weather data are accessed from the PC of the monitoring center located on site. The atmospheric dispersion modeling software calculates the odor and gas plumes by combining field data in real-time. It becomes easier to assess and forecast the impact of chemical and olfactory pollution. Results can be correlated with odor perception or complaints from local residents.
