SEAL-X - Model XP - Hydrophilic Polymer
A trowel-grade mastic designed for a variety of surface preparation and detailing work with CETCO active waterproofing membranes. Featuring XP Technology hydrophilic polymer, SEAL-X XP swells upon contact with water to form a watertight barrier in fresh to high-saline water conditions. With the consistency of thick grease, SEAL-X XP is easy to apply and bonds to most building materials. Available in 25kg (5 gallon) pails.
SEAL-X XP is trowel-grade mastic designed for a variety of surface preparation and detailing work with ULTRASEAL XP and other CETCO active waterproofing membranes. Featuring XP Technology hydrophilic polymer, SEAL-X XP swells upon contact with water to form a watertight barrier in fresh to highsaline water conditions. With the consistency of thick grease, SEAL-X XP is easy to apply and bonds to most building materials.
SEAL-X XP waterproofing mastic is designed for the following uses:
- Fillet material at horizontal and vertical inside corner transitions
- Flashing material around mechanical and structural penetrations
- Flashing material at waterproofing membrane terminations below-grade
- Substrate preparation material for small concrete surface defects prior to waterproofing membrane installation
SEAL-X XP is formulated for use on structural concrete, masonry, and most metal surfaces. Do not use SEAL-X XP on extruded polystyrene (EPS) concrete forming systems. Use in applications with proper confinement only. Backfill soils should be compacted to minimum 85% Modified Proctor density. SEAL-X XP is not an expansion joint sealant.
All surfaces to receive SEAL-X XP should be dry and free of dirt, dust, grease, rust, oil, curing agents or other contaminants. SEAL-X XP can be applied to structural concrete surfaces as soon as the forms are removed. Fine hair broom or equivalent texture finish provides best adhesion and minimizes waste. Apply just prior to waterproofing membrane installation. SEAL-X XP should not be left exposed for prolonged period prior to concrete or backfill placement.
Apply SEAL-X XP at a minimum 6 mm (1/4”) thickness unless otherwise noted on details or as directed by manufacturer. SEAL-X XP should be applied when ambient and surface temperatures are -4°C (25°F ) or above. Around penetrations, fillet shall be a minimum 18 mm (3/4”) thick and be continuous around the penetration. Application should completely cover any exposed substrate and extend onto the waterproofing membrane. Complete penetration detailing by applying SEAL-X XP onto penetration 36 mm (1-1/2”) at a minimum 6 mm (1/4”) thickness.
Note: Product usage rates will vary as a result of site conditions and installation technique.
SEAL-X XP is available in 25kg (5 gallon) pails. Store above 15°C (60°F) before application.)
Ship SEAL-X XP via ground trucking service. Refer to MSDS for additional shipping information. Keep cans sealed at all times when not in use. Store at 16°C to 27°C (60°F to 80°F), in a dry storage area away from heat and flames. Clean tools with damp rag.
Workers should wear protective clothing and eye protection. Avoid eye and skin contact, particularly open cuts. In the event of contact with eye, wash immediately. Do not ingest. Refer to MSDS for other warnings and product safety information.
