STS - Model Safe-Pocket Source - Simulated Radiation Source
The STS Safe-PocketSource simulator is a simulated radiation source designed to aid the tuition of workers in the nuclear industry in safe practices and in understanding the nature and mechanics of ionising radiation. The instrument operates using an STS radio frequency emitter to generate a field which can be detected by any of the Safe-Series monitors and postal detectors with the resultant reading displayed on the LCD Display of the instrument.
The Safe-PocketSource is designed to be easily hidden and features a single button to turn the source on/off and a led to indicate battery low.
The Safe-PocketSource is a simulated radiation field generator which will generate a near isotropic field pattern providing a field of approx 15M in all directions.
The source features a single 'isotope' which recreates the characteristics of the isotope in terms of its beta/gamma generation at a set activity level.
The Safe-pocketSource runs off 2 standard AAA cells giving an operation time of over 10hrs.
The source is particularly suitable for using in covert training exercises, with the STS portal Simulation system and for lost source recovery drills.
The Safe-Series of instruments offer the perfect solution for CBRN Training, Hazmat Training and Homeland Security Training with simple intuitive controls, competitive pricing and low ongoing cost of ownership.
The STS Safe-PocketSource is not designed to be intrinsically safe and therefore should not be used in hazardous environments. The units are not waterproof and contain delicate and sensitive electronics which may be caused to fail if exposed to moisture. Units should be stored in a clean and dry environment, batteries should be removed if storing for more than 4 weeks.
Instrument response will be affected by environmental conditions such as the presence of large reflective surfaces, substantial metal structures and variable wall thicknesses.
STS have launched an upgraded source to complement their Safe-Series range of instruments.
The Safe-Pocket Source is designed to be easily concealed, has an integral battery compartment and 10 strength levels to select from. Like the existing MiniSource the Pocket Source produces a near isotropic field pattern to provide a very realistic training tool.
The Pocket source measures just 105 x 65 x 24mm making it perfect to slip into a pocket to create lost source scenarios or for activation of a portal monitor simulator.
The source is compatible with all of the STS Safe-Series range, including the Survey-Safe, Safe-EPD, Safe-FH40, Dosi-safe and portal monitor. Up to 16 devices may be networked together to create complex training scenarios with different instruments.
The STS Safe-Series range brings new technology into handheld simulation to provide the most realistic simulators available today.
