Tensioned Membrane Structures for Mining

Many members of the mining industry, including engineers, purchasing agents and project managers, have already made Sprung their choice for mining buildings. Sprung structures have been utilized for mining camps by hoist housing companies like Resolution Copper Mine, as mining processing facilities at Ekati Diamond Mine, and as on-site warehousing facilities and bulk storage at Kennecott’s Bingham Canyon Mine.

A Sprung structure is ideal for companies who require building solutions and mining camps in remote locations, built and erected under  rigid construction timelines, and with various foundation requirements. Because of Sprung’s modular design and its ability to be crane-lifted into place, Sprung structures can accommodate virtually any mining application. Its relocatable design means it adapts quickly to changing priorities – it is easily expanded, reconfigured, and dismantled for any mining need that may arise. The optional fiberglass insulation package provides a full mining camp that can be erected quickly for personnel needing on-site offices, core sampling solutions or safety meeting and dining facilities.

Sprung buildings can be set up immediately in the exploration phase, but the buildings are engineered and designed for the entire life of the mine.  A common Sprung mining camp set up includes a variety of facilities including mine production enclosures, mining processing facilities and other mining buildings.

Sprung structures are engineered to shed snow and withstand extreme wind loads. Our rust-free aluminum substructure is guaranteed for 30 years. Many mining companies also prefer to lease Sprung structures for applications ranging from one month to five years.
