Whether in coal, oil or soil analysis, the elemental analysis of macro samples is a particularly technical challenge for an analyzer. Elementar has solved this task in a sophisticated way by offering the vario MACRO cube. New technical solutions combined with well proven techniques allow the simultaneous determination of CHNS of samples up to the gram range. The worldwide only analyzer which makes this possible in one fully automatic step. The elaborate design of the 'cube' instruments is good looking and makes this perfect function possible. Ergonomics and functionality are finely linked here. vario MACRO cube can be adjusted to today's and tomorrow's requirements due to its modularity. However, the most important requirement of an analyzer is still the accuracy of the analysis. And vario MACRO cube simply works accurate.

The vario MACRO CN is a macro analyzer designed for the fast and save determination of N/protein in plant material, food and feed as an environmentally friendly alternative to the classical Kjeldahl method. It can also be applied for the determination of CN, e.g. in agricultural research. Cost effective alternative to vario MAX CN

vario MACRO cube CHNS

The only macro analyzer worldwide for the simultaneous determination of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur from one sample as well as optional oxygen and chlorine. Also suitable for micro samples of a few milligrams of weight. Analysis, e.g. of fossil fuels, soil, agricultural products or environmental samples

Optional:

O: pyrolytic oxygen determination at 1150°C and quantification of the formed CO with TCD or IR technology.
Cl: chlorine determination with high temperature combustion of the sample and quantification of the formed HCl with electrochemical sensors.
soliTIC: for the determination of the total inorganically bound carbon in the sample.
TOC: for the determination of the total organically bound carbon in the sample.

Of course a later upgrade of the instrument to another mode is possible.

High temperature combustion unit
quantitative sample digestion at up to 1200°C – with ten years furnace warranty
(1800°C at the point of combustion when tin foil is used). This is the prerequisite for 100% recovery also with samples difficult to combust. Jet injection of oxygen directly to the sample leads to highest oxygen concentrations at the point of combustion and low gas consumption

optimized for macro (up to 1.5g soil) sample weight, depending on requirements up to 200mg organic matter

Largest dynamic range of element concentrations and element ratio
up to 150 mg C abs. or 100 mg N abs. (or 100%), from ppm to 100%

Steel combustion tubes
for a long lifetime in the modes CN and CHN robust steel tubes are used in the combustion and post-combustion furnace

Purge&trap Chromatography
Separation of gaseous components on up to three specific columns for perfect separation without overlap and automatic optimization of the analysis time

Multipoint calibration
stable over months and matrix independent

Instrument control
with a standard PC for perfect results also for unknown or heavily variable sample matrices with integrated sample feeder for 60 samples (upgradeable up to 120 pos.), 21 CFR part 11 functionality available. Possibility for remote service due to full digitalization of the instrument electronics

No expensive special catalysts, easy ash removal from the combustion tube and long lifetime of all components are the basis for a low cost of ownership

Clean, safe, fast
The analysis only takes a few minutes, no aggressive or toxic chemicals are used, Helium carrier gas (Argon possible alternatively)

Easy installation requirements
48 x 55 cm benchtop space, 1 power supply (230, 110, 100 V), and two gases are sufficient for maintenance free long time operation

Electronic micro balance:
balance and elemental analyzer form a system. We offer micro balances and analytical balances from the leading manufacturers with our instruments.

Sample feeder:
alternative carousels are available for larger sample numbers with  up to 120 positions and reduced volume.

Upgrade kit oxygen:
for upgrading the basic unit to oxygen determination with a pyrolysis temperature of up to 1150°C. Conversion of the bound oxygen to CO and detection with the built in TCD or alternatively with IR technology.

Upgrade kit chlorine:
for upgrading the basic instrument for the determination of chlorine. Combustion of the sample at 1150°C and detection of the formed HCl with electrochemical sensors.

soliTIC:
addition for the analysis of total inorganic carbon only.

Capsule press:
for the dosing and gas tight sealing of tin capsules for liquid and sensitive samples

vario Liquid Sampler, VLS: the VLS automated sample feeder is used for liquid injections directly into the combustion chamber.

Continuous flow Hybrid option: the CF-Hybrid serves for an optimized lifetime of four consumables.

Manual gas/liquid injection: for the injection of liquid or gaseous samples via a septum free injector port and a micro-syringe.

Sample former with pressing tool:
for the compaction of the wrapped samples and removal of air in soil samples.

Manual pressing tool:
for the manual compaction of the wrapped sample.
