Model BIG-G - Wastewater Treatment Plants
Bioengineering’s BIG-G10-1000 treatment plants comprise a single tank (unitank). Within the tank there are three treatment stages: biological treatment (biozone- nitrification and denitrification) and humus settlement.
Products Details
Working procedure of BIG-G®
The flow from inlet to outlet is by gravity. The incoming wastewater is received in the denitrification zone. Flow from the primary zone passes forward into the nitrification zone. The biozone contains a number of sections (depending on the plant size and required discharge consent. The high surface area of the media encourages the growth of the previously selected microorganisms (biomass) which treat the wastewater.
Air, by means of above ground blower(s), is introduced below the media. The air fulfils two functions: supplying the oxygen required by the biomass; scouring the media, removing excess biomass. The combination of treated wastewater and excess humus solids is transferred forward into the humus settlement zone. In this zone the humus solids settle to the bottom of the tank with the treated water (final effluent) being discharged at the top.
The humus solids (humus sludge) which settle to the bottom of the tank are transferred to the denitrification zone by means of an airlift pump, and the surplus sludge is ultimately removed by the dislodging operation.

Features
ignificant reduction of the basin volumes where the processes of equalization, biological treatment and secondary sedimentation take place.
The purified water is guarantied to be within the limitations of Annex I to Directive91/271/EEC
The technology can be used in new wastewater treatment plants and also can be applied in already existing technologies with bioactive sludge, with the purpose of increasing the water purification level
Degradation of almost non degradable matters in the wastewater is done in the same time limits as the easily degradable matters, which does not require expansion of the existing volumes and construction of new bioreactors.By implementing this technology the expenses for maintenance of the system drop, which makes our technology superior over any classic wastewater treatment technology.
The trained personnel can easily control the system for biological treatment of the wastewater.
That is because the biological treatment of the wastewater is conducted with the usage of microorganisms, that are previously selected, isolated and adapted to different surroundings (different types of wastewater). After the isolation of the microorganisms only the ones who show the best biological characteristics: biological activity, adaptability and stability, are used in our technologies. The selected microorganisms in form of mixed culture go trough a series of biological tests to optimize the wastewater treatment process.
The classic SBR technology has more of a technical character, which means that the microorganisms present in these systems do not undergo any previous selection or adaptation. The SBR technology keeps up the biological activity by constructing very big volumes to ensure the biological process.
With our patented technology, we ensure a low hydraulic retention time (HRT) to only several hours which at the end makes a remarkable difference in the size of the pool volumes, which also makes the initial investments even lower.
And of course this is very important to every municipality that can only offer a small land area for construction of the wastewater treatment plant.
Our technology ensures a high quality of purified water with low concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus and other biogenic elements, which are the cause for eutrofication of the recipient ecosystems.
The technologies that we offer are also very rational in the means of electric energy savings, and that is all because of our nitrification pool only need a small amount of oxidation.
The surplus sludge is very low compared to the classic SBR technology, which means that there is no need of extra sedimentation tanks for sludge stabilization.
And at the end, one of the biggest advantages of our technology is that it uses the results of many years of fundamental research of the laboratory for environmental microbiology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje. Many of the brand new practice experiences and discoveries are implemented our technology. Behind our technology stands a team that is highly biotechnologically experienced, which team can control and monitor the performance of the wastewater treatment plans at any given time. And last but not least, it is made in R. of Macedonia.
