ZAPS LiquID - Optical Monitoring Station
The LiquID Station from ZAPS Technologies is an optical monitoring instrument unlike any other. All measurements are made in a single flow cell with patented optics (US 7,411,668 B2). Concentrations are made using absorption, fluorescence, and scattering measurements by applying the Hybrid Multispectral Analysis (HMA) approach, developed at ZAPS Technologies. The instrument uses no reagents and produces no waste. LiquID can be configured to measure a wide range of important water quality parameters on a rapid cycle. This cycle produces new concentrations of all reported parameters in approximately 2 minutes. Not all parameters are available on any single machine, but the platform is extensible to a number of different applications, including municipal water and wastewater, water reuse, and industrial process control and monitoring.
Solid State Optical Design
- No reagents, the sample out is the same as the sample in.
- Multiple visible and non-visible light frequencies are used in rapid succession to create an optical signature of the water being analyzed, over 3 million times per day.
Hybrid Multispectral Analysis (HMA)
- HMA combines absorption, fluorescence, and scattering optical techniques into one measurement to create a uniquely intensive optical view of the water matrix.
One Device for Different Applications
- LiquID parameters for use in water, wastewater, reuse, or industrial applications are enabled using optical components and proprietary software. Enabling the LiquID to be the same device in 100% of applications, with optical configurations the same in over 90% of applications. LiquID simultaneously reports all configured parameters on average of 27 times per hour, ranging from an average of 135 per hour to over 300 per hour.
Self Maintaining - Automated Cleaning and Calibration
- LiquID software maintains system operational capability using automated on-board cleaning and calibration routines. Occasional manual cleaning is limited to a 15 minute procedure 1 to 30 times per month depending on how much Fat-Oil-Grease is regularly in the water being analyzed. No calibration is ever required, as this function is completely automated using a technique that eliminates the need for a calibration standard.
Remote Online Monitoring
- Data can be transmitted from the LiquID in a number of ways including cell modem, wireless, and cat5 cable. It is designed to handle the massive amounts of parameter data generated by the LiquID. 4/20 mA, USB, and serial port can also be used. Data can be sent to a secure ZAPS server, a customer SCADA, or control system. Users with proper authorization can view LiquID data stored on the ZAPS server using any Internet connectable device (ie. computer, tablet, smart phone), 24/7, anywhere in the world. LiquID can also be used to directly control processes or devices when intermediate control systems (like SCADA) are not available.
Accepts 'Clean' or 'Dirty' Sample Flows
- LiquID monitors in matrices ranging from ultrapure water to raw wastewater (rags and large grit removed). As long as the water can consistently flow through the LiquID, it can be analyzed in real time.
- NEMA-4 cabinet and solid-state design enables installation indoors or outdoors. There are minimal requirements for temperature control of the LiquID, such as avoiding direct sunlight in climates that regularly exceed 100F. There is no requirement to control the temperature of the sample other than the ability to flow through the LiquID, and that it not exceed 160F.
