About Us
Our products and services include:
Pipeline Inspection Systems
We create highly advanced pipeline inspection systems in order to help us identify any problems with your drains. Its accuracy is unparalleled, allowing us to find and resolve any issues in a quick and efficient manner. The system can also send data to smartphones, via a free mobile app, in case the problem needs to be examined in more detail.
Software
If an issue needs to be looked at more closely then the data can be sent over to our phones. This is due to the two types of software that we use, mina Survey and WinCan. They help us to analyse the data from our pipeline inspection systems to find out the reasons behind why a drain is not functioning properly.
General Maintenance
If your pipeline requires some general maintenance, we at Scanprobe have got that covered too. If you would prefer to source the materials yourself, check out Renoline, our drainage consumables division.
Company History
Welcome to Scanprobe Techniques Ltd, a family run business since 1985 specialising in the design, assembly and manufacture of CCTV pipeline inspection systems.
The company was founded by Michael Barry who, before the birth of Scanprobe Techniques Ltd, began his career in the plumbing industry in the 1960’s based out of his premises in South London. It is from this background that Michael would go on to invent and develop the first in a long line of pipeline inspection systems designed to aid the plumbing and drainage industry, and amongst Scanprobe’s customer base were many local councils and water authorities
In the 1980s with the business expanding, Scanprobe relocated to larger premises in Croydon, and it is at this point where Michael’s son, Jon, joined the company. In 1996 the Renoline division was born, with the aim of supporting the post-survey part of the job. Supplying the tools & consumables required to complete the repair and maintenance works that the pipeline inspection survey may have highlighted as necessary, including the tools to clear any obstructions within the pipeline & the tools and materials to patch or line sections of the pipeline that were damaged or leaking. After Michael retired in 2003, Jon took over as Managing Director to continue his father’s work with the successful business.
A mere 1 year later and the company was relocating once more to an even larger premises to support our continued growth. This new premises encompassed greater warehouse space and a bespoke factory as the company increased production of our pipeline inspection systems.
This new premises would prove a master-stroke by Jon, as just 6 years later in 2015, after years of research and development, the Maxprobe™ was born. Designed to not just suit the pipeline inspection market on the day of release but for years to come, the term “future proof” would be closely linked to the Maxprobe™. A term easily thrown around by many, but for Scanprobe and the Maxprobe™ there was real purpose: it needed to be able to keep up with the times and developments within the industry, and so the ability to update the software and modify the modular components, whilst also providing these components as customisable options. In time the Maxprobe™ would have two bigger brothers in the “Maxprobe™ XL” and “Maxprobe™120” to support a larger-scale of pipeline inspection job.
Not looking to sit back and relax, the development team Scanprobe were already hard at work looking to develop the latest addition to the pipeline inspection camera family, and sure enough late in 2018 the TrapJumper™ was introduced to the industry. Weighing in at just under 12kg and running off of the same control box as the Maxprobe™ family of cameras, this was game changer. Designed with the requirements of the industry and the operators in mind, the TrapJumper™ came with a new level of flexibility in order to open doors which in the past would need to be broken down using destructive force.
This definitive pipeline inspection camera range could not be limited to the UK market alone, and Scanprobe are proud to have a distribution network both spanning the UK but also internationally throughout Europe, the U.S.A., South Africa & Australasia, with continued growth in this sector of the business keenly & strategically sought.
Our pipeline inspection systems aren’t just available to buy, as the whole Maxprobe™ range & TrapJumper™ systems can be hired out on a daily or weekly rate for those with a one-off job, or expanding their own operations, or very commonly those looking to try out our camera systems before committing to owning one. For this latter option, check out our hire page for an interesting offer
2018 was a big year for Scanprobe, as it marked our movement into the mobile app market with mina, an app developed to add additional value to the Maxprobe™ & TrapJumper™ through additional features and functionality. A free download to your mobile device, the mina app compliments the Scanprobe range of pipeline inspection cameras with features including live stream video, survey map drawing on top of Google Maps, and a survey report sharing feature.
