About Us
Dr. McCurry has more than 27 years experience in hydrology relating to water resources evaluations and groundwater contamination. His experience includes the investigation, characterization and modeling of watersheds and aquifer systems for projects nationwide, from site- to basin-scale. His areas of technical expertise include:
- Quantitative analyses of groundwater flow and contaminant transport;
- Characterizing stream/aquifer interactions;
- Conducting aquifer testing and analyses;
- Conjunctive use planning;
- Evaluating climate change impacts on hydrology and water availability;
- Preparing source water and wellhead protection plans;
- Designing and evaluating aquifer remediation systems; and
- Analyzing water rights.
Dr. McCurry has successfully managed large projects and staff for more than 20 years along with serving as lead scientist for more than 25 years. Past clients have included municipalities, local and state governments, EPA, and a variety of industrial entities. He has taught graduate-level classes in groundwater management and groundwater modeling since 1991. Dr. McCurry has been a member of many technical advisory committees, including the ASCE Managed Aquifer Recharge Standards Committee, for which he is the corresponding editor, and the City of Boulder, CO, South Boulder Creek Flood Mapping project.
He earned a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Colorado, a M.S. in Geology from West Virginia University and a B.S. in Geology from the Pennsylvania State University. He is a registered Professional Geologist in Texas.
In his spare time, Gordon enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including trail running, mountaineering, 24-hr orienteering events, mountain biking, cross- country skiing and adventure racing. His work and play are based out of Boulder, Colorado.
