A proof of evidence of nuisances by odours is mostly not possible on the basis of technical monitoring devices, therefore the human nose is presently the most frequently used 'monitoring device' for nuisances by odours.

Legislative efforts - for example the 'Odour Concentration Guideline' introduced in many German States - lead to a standardization of the procedure to determine and to assess odour concentrations. Together with field inspections - either on the basis of regular grids or leeward of odour sources - numerical models are used to predict odour concentrations.
Lohmeyer Consulting Engineers have an experience of many years in preparing expert advices for agricultural, waste treatment/disposal and industrial plants. We use and include all presently current methods and rules.
