The testing of air quality in the workplace may be carried out for a number of reasons; to comply with COSHH regulations or to prove the effectiveness of an LEV system. When carried out it is normally recommended that personnel monitoring is employed.
This gives an indication of the quality of air within the breathing zone of staff working in the vicinity. This may also be backed up with background monitoring of the area.
Advance carry out all tests to standard sampling methods NIOSHH/OSHA HSE or MDHS.
Prior to testing a site visit would be conducted to determine the contaminants that require testing and the number and location of personnel or ambient tests required.
Contaminants we regularly test for include:
- Total inhalable dust
- Respirable Dust
- Welding fume
- Diesel fume
- Wood dust
- Oil mist
In the case of solvents, tests can be backed up with a walk around survey with an ambient flame ionising detector (FID). This can give real time readings of the levels of solvent and help to identify sources of emission.
