Environmental Baseline and Impact Assessments
Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) are required for a range of projects from small community infrastructure to large scale developments under the BCEAA process and CEAA. PHH ARC has a broad range of environmental and socioeconomic baseline and impact assessment experience, related to the mining sector, hydroelectric reservoirs, military projects, oil and gas development, marine infrastructure, airport redevelopment, commercial agricultural projects, energy generation (gas, wind, bio-energy, geothermal, solar and tidal), transportation infrastructure (bridges, highways, terminals, light and heavy rail), waste disposal (landfills and waste treatment facilities), resorts and manufacturing / processing facilities.
PHH ARC offers environmental assessments, environmental impact assessments and environmental management services, including the preparation of aquatic and terrestrial baseline reports, impact assessments, environmental management plans (EMPs), environmental protection plans (EPPs), along with experience in community consultation and First Nations consultation.
Our Environmental Baseline and Impact Assessment services and experience include:
Terrestrial Ecosystem Characterization and Impact Assessment
The PHH ARC team can provide detailed vegetation inventories, mapping and analysis, including rare plants and sensitive ecosystem inventories (SEIs), environmental management plans, environmental protection plans), and mitigation planning.
Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) is an important component of terrestrial baseline and impact assessments, and our team will work to integrate the relevant climate, vegetation and soils data to produce TEM maps that are completed according to the provincial standards.
Aquatic and Riparian Habitat Characterization and Impact Assessment
PHH ARC provides reliable baseline characterization and assessments of potential project impacts on aquatic ecosystems, including conducting fish species inventories, benthic invertebrate sampling, aquatic habitat and riparian vegetation inventories, water quality testing and monitoring, and sediment quality studies. Our team will ensure that surveys are completed to the applicable Resource Inventory Standards Committee (RISC) guidelines. Our team can accurately characterize aquatic habitats, potential project impacts, and develop EMPs and EPPs. PHH ARC will work with our clients to ensure that the impacts of project activities on aquatic and riparian habitats are minimized.
We have extensive experience in the evaluation of stream-crossing structural designs, bank stabilization techniques, erosion and sediment control plans, and in-stream and riparian restoration.
