European Hydrological Predictions For The Environment

A first version of a Pan-European hydrological model (E-HYPE) with high resolution is operational in the SMHI production environment. So far, the model is uncalibrated and based on readily available global databases, which also reflects the uncertainty, but the infrastructure is now available and open for improvements.

A first version of a Pan-European hydrological model (E-HYPE) with high resolution is operational in the SMHI production environment. The model has been initiated and funded by GMES and several EU FP7 projects (e.g. Geoland2, MyOcean, OPERR, SUDPLAN, Ecosupport). So far, the model is uncalibrated and based on readily available global databases, which also reflects the uncertainty, but the infrastructure is now available and open for improvements. Resolution and calculation points may also be changed relatively easily for the domain.

SMHI welcome all initiatives for further system improvements, such as more detailed input data and cooperation in HYPE-model code development. We invite researchers, practitioners, and water authorities to join this effort to construct a common platform for transboundary hydrological analysis at different scales over Europe.
