Hydrographic Nautical Charting Services
Gardline has been undertaking hydrographic surveys to IHO S-44 standard since 1982, both in UK and overseas waters.During this time techniques and equipment have been continuously improved and upgraded to meet the changing demands of the hydrographic user community.
Gardline have significant experience with regional nautical charting surveys for the UK Government and have been particularly successful in winning contratcs within UK waters in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1990, 1994, 1996 - 2005, 2006 - 2011, 2013 - 2015 under the Civil Hydrography Programme on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
A total area in excess of 100,000km2 has been surveyed by Gardline to IHO Order 1 standards from 0m to 200m water-depth. Gardline operates a fleet of vessels of varying size and configuration to accommodate the full range of water-depths, including full onboard post-processing capability.
The scope of most surveys includes blanket acquisition of high density multi-beam bathymetry, for which Gardline has invested in both Kongsberg and Reson high resolutionMBES systems and peripheral sensors. This data is processed and analysed to removeartefacts and identify significant shoals and wrecks requiring further investigation. MBES by-products such as backscatter and water-column data are used to identify seabed texture changes and undertake wreck investigations also using magnetometer. Ancillary tasks include grab sampling, tide and current observations and inspection of navigation marks. Surveys are rendered as fully validated digital products and a comprehensive Report of Survey.
Gardline can also offer bathymetric LIDAR capability for shallow water surveys via industrypartnership.
