Occupational Exposure to Metal Dust and Fumes
From Air Testing
LCS Laboratory Inc., offers air sampling equipment, free media, and laboratory services in collection and analysis of airborne metal dust. Most metals that are used by industry are toxic and therefore regulated. Such metals like Chromium, Copper, Cobalt, Nickel, and Titanium are common allergens. As an example, result some people have allergic reactions on metal coins like dimes and quarters, steel silverware, and on steel jewelry. Chromium (VI), cadmium, and arsenic are carcinogens. Lead and Mercury are toxic and can be absorbed through the skin. Manganese, Vanadium, Beryllium, Zinc, and many other heavy metals are toxic and can affect you workers health after only a few hours of exposure.
One of the most common source of metal dust is welding operation. Based on our observations about 30% of all welding fume samples exceed occupational exposure limits for iron oxide and manganese.
With more than 15 years of experience in Industrial Hygiene and metal sampling we can offer you the most effective and economical way to evaluate worker’s exposure to metal dust and fumes.
