Most existing multi-line source Gaussian dispersion models and corresponding simulation software for vehicle exhaust emission in the world can only be used in the so-called ‘micro-scale region’, i.e., a narrow strip with 150 meters wide on each side of the road, where the surface roughness factor Z0 should be constant. FSSSVEE1.0, however, is the only high-quality technical software in the world,which can provide the traffic simulation in full-scale urban regions. Under the supports of local surface roughness factor Z0 database and corresponding innovation algorithm, this software can calculate, simulate, predict and analyze the levels and details of the inert pollutants (such as CO and PM2.5, PM10, etc.); display 2-D and 3-D images of pollutant concentration fields on a plane with some height to the datum; and to make a contribution to the formation of illustrated research papers and reports as well as the suggestions on decision making with high quality.

The urban managers, researchers, engineers, environmental workers, public health experts and teachers and students in universities and secondary schools, who are willing to conduct quantitative research, scientific analysis and precise control of vehicle exhaust pollution, are the potential users of FSSSVEE1.0.

●FSSSVEE1.0 consists of computing engine, graphical user interface (GUI), digital maps, surface roughness factor Z0 fills for representative land use types, corresponding to those maps, help system and examples.

●The innovative algorithm and corresponding simulation software, supported by the Z0 database of specified urban surface roughness factor, are developed by transforming a series of EPA's(USA)finite line-source Gaussian dispersion models, famous worldwide, which is only applicable to the ‘micro-scale region’, into a way that is also applicable to the urban scale region.

●Through dialog boxes, tables and simple operations on digital maps to input the data about road positioning, traffic parameters, meteorological parameters and receptor's disposition, etc..

●The map-support tool for pre- and post-processing, including geometrical data collection, digital map background, map enlargement and shrink, storage and printing, etc..

●Generating the surface roughness factor Z0 file(s) through clicking on gridding digital map, which have the function to store, display, correct and build up the produced Z0 file(s).

●The computing engine can provide three algorithms: a.) Z0 is a constant value, this is the traditional algorithm of original model, applicable only to the ‘micro-scale region’; b.) Z0 is the arithmetic mean of computing domain, the valuation is more reasonable than a.); and c.) Z0 is the arithmetic mean at the local area within the blowing process range under the wind direction for each link. Users can choose appropriate algorithms flexibly according to the calculation problems.

●The graphics  of up-to-date 2- and 3-D pollutant concentration distribution field can be provided, including generated three 2-D concentration contour displays and six types of 3-D graphics, which can rotate around Z-axis. Users no longer need to use other commercial drawing software.

●Easy to use the analyzer on calculated results, which functions include the point-by-point display of mouse coordinates and model-calculated concentration value (point analysis), and display and analysis of various characteristic concentration values within a towed rectangular region.

●Once calculation can quickly simulate, predict and analyze the pollutant concentration values at several designed points or the concentration distribution field at a certain height, caused by the motor vehicle exhaust gas emission.

●If need be, the author of software can adjust the default limits for the control parameters; provide the functions to simulate the initial fields of non-inert pollutants; or add the functions to estimate the complex pollution and the secondary pollution according to the formula, given by users.
