ADR Training

ADR 2011 states drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous goods shall hold a certificate issued by the competent authority stating they have participated in a training course and passed an examination on the particular requirements that have to be met in the carriage of dangerous goods. The main objectives of the training course is to make drivers aware of the hazards arising in the carriage of dangerous goods and to give them basic information indispensable for minimising the likelihood of an incident taking place and to enable them to take measures necessary for their own safety and that of the public and the environment.

Once an ADR Certificate has been awarded it is valid for a period of 5 years. A refresher course may be taken at any time during the five year period. If the refresher course is taken prior to the fifth year then the certificate will be valid (subject to passing exams) from the date of the examinations. If the course is taken during the fifth year then the certificate (subject to passing exams) becomes active after the expiry date of the current certificate.
