Certification Information: This course meets or exceeds requirement for biennial technical refresher training for Indiana Wastewater Treatment Operator certification at all levels. Industrial wastewater treatment involves complex chemical, physical, and biological processes. Meeting water quality standards require more sophisticated and sensitive wastewater treatment processes. Chemical precipitation processes must be improved and refined to meet the current standards. Reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and chemical neutralization will be used more extensively. Wastewater treatment plant operators at industrial facilities must have a firm understanding of existing and upcoming technologies.
The Institute's Industrial Wastewater Treatment course details the chemical and physical processes involved with existing and emerging chemical treatment technologies. This course reviews specific applications, provides practical guidance, and examines safety and health issues, pollution prevention implications, and impacts on other environmental media. Resources to obtain more specific information are presented and summarized. The course is designed for people who need to review the basics and become familiar with more advanced topics in chemical treatment methods.
