3-D Microemulsion is an injectable electron donor emulsion technology. It is specifically designed to provide the controlled-release of three highly effective electron donors, including lactic acid, to drive the enhanced reductive dechlorination process at sites impacted with chlorinated solvents.

Once injected, the emulsified material moves into the subsurface pore spaces forming micelles and moving via micellar transport, eventually coating most all available surfaces. Over time, the released soluble components are distributed within the aquifer via the physical process of advection and the concentration driven forces of diffusion.
